We were learning all about cranes today in Young Engineers in Rm 15. The boys were challenged to design a crane that would be stable enough to be able to hoist a heavy weight upwards. A possible design for a basic crane was given to the boys in class but they expanded on this basic crane hugely by using their imagination and adding more pieces like wheels and various types of pulley systems. Judging from the pictures below we definitely look to have some future engineers in St. Mary’s.
