This year our Senior A hurling team started with an annual blitz that we do every year, the teams involved are St Josephs, St Pius, Scoil San Treasa Kilmacud and ourselves. We got off to a great start by beating St Josephs and St Pius but then came narrowly short in the final group game of the blitz against Scoil San Treasa losing by a couple points. We then had our first Herald Cup group game against Bishop Galvin. It was a terrible day for a match but we fought through it and won by about 14 points, it was a great start to our Herald cup campaign.
Next up we had our second group game against a very good Scoil San Treasa side. This match was for the trophy for the blitz and also the two very valuable points that were up for grabs in the group. We started well but they didn’t go away and came back at us, we ended up winning by three points. It was a super performance from the whole team.
For our final group game we had a top of the group clash with Hollypark and it was whoever won would top the group, Hollypark were out for us after the football and they started very well but the lads would not give up and came straight back at them with a few quick goals. The Hollypark boys wouldn’t stop but unfortunately for them it wasn’t enough. We had won the game and we had deservedly topped our group.
Next up we have St Colmcilles in the Herald cup semi-final and whatever happens it has been a great year with a great bunch of lads. We also thank the coaches Mr O’Neil and Mr Casey, if it wasn’t for them volunteering to take the team none of this would’ve happened, Thank you.
