Senior A Hurling Team

At the start of our season we played in a small tournament against St. Joseph’s, St. Pius and Scoil San Treasa. On the day it was freezing but we got through it and we beat all the teams, but there was more to come. We played San Treasa again in the final. We worked very hard in the match and got lots of frees and we beat them again to win the tournament. We also got a trophy for our victory.

Then we got focused on the Herald cup. We would train three times a week and a match on Thursday. During the group stages we beat Scoil San Treasa by one point, and we drew St. Laurence’s in the group stages. Then we beat St. Colmcilles in the quarter final by a point. It was a really close match. We reached the semi-final against Bishop Galvin. At one stage we were winning by five points. One of their players stuck over two points and a goal. We got a few more points and near the end it was so tight that it went to extra time. Unfortunately, we ended up losing by a point. We enjoyed representing our school in the Herald cup.

On behalf of the whole senior a hurling panel we want to give a big thanks to Mr. Rooney, Mr. Hughes and Mr. O’Neill for coaching us throughout the season. Mr. Casey told us that he would let Ms. Giblin shave his beard if we made it to Croke Park.  What a shame!
